Maar sit jy haar in \u2019n kombuis, het sy soos \u2019n koedoe in hoofligte verstar. Met die gevolg dat ek op 18 nie \u2019n eier kon kook nie. Olyfolie was \u2019n ding wat mens by die apteek gekoop het, in sulke plastiek medisynebotteltjies. My tannie het dit net so skoon in my niggies se kele afgedwing het om hulle puisie-tienervelletjies uit te sort. Ek ril steeds. En Aromat was die enigste ding wat jy in jou bauernmalerei speseryrakkie nodig gehad het, buiten sout.<\/p>\n<p>So, heeltemal onnosel, het ek my kosreis aangepak. Ek\u2019t gekook, geproe en, wanneer ek die sente bymekaar kon skraap, klasse geloop. Maar, meeste van als, het ek gelees. Want sien, as jy kan lees, glo ek jy kan kook. Ek bedoel nou nie Michelinster kos nie. Nee genade. Myne is Sommer Net Kos.<\/p>\n<p>Hartskos, trooskos, maklike kos en, baie belangrik vir my, GOEDKOOP KOS. Want ek\u2019s mos \u2019n bietjie goedkoop. Nie rooi lip\/ho\u00eb hak\/Seepunt Main Road goedkoop nie. Liewer die soort goedkoop wat R60 tekkies by Pep koop en kinderlik opgewonde raak oor \u2019n twee-vir-die-prys-van-een sp\u00easjil op pampoen.<\/p>\n<p>Soveel as wat ek hou van ander se resepte lees, hou ek nog meer van eksperimenteer. \u2019n Regte \u2018wat as\u2019 kok. Wat as mens pizzadeeg maak, maar bietjie bruinmeel bygooi in plaas van net wit? Wat as mens bokmelk cheddar opsit in plaas van net mozzarella? En wat as mens roketblare, blinkgemaak met net \u2019n titsel okkerneutolie vinaigrette, oorstrooi? En sommer \u2019n paar geroosterde okkerneute ook. Sy\u2019t nogal baie attitude vir so \u2019n klein dingetjie \u2013 waardeer duidelik nie hoe gelukkig sy was toe ek haar swart gevreetjie uit die vyftig of wat ander oulikes gekies het nie, looppensie en al. Saam-saam kook ons dat dit klap in ons klein Kaapstad kombuisie. My ouma se plaashoederpastei en souskluitjies. Haar perskeblaarvla en Idealmelk roomys wat ek na skool op haar agterstoep in die yl ho\u00ebveld wintersonnetjie verorber het. Maar ook ander goed. F\u00eansie Franse disse, want ek\u2019s effe kens oor Frankryk. En kos wat lyk asof ek ure agter die kospotte gesloeg het, terwyl ek eintlik net \u2019n paar goed in \u2019n pot gegooi het en lipstif gaan aansit het. So Nigella-styl &#8216;glam&#8217; (ek probeer), maar met smaller heupe.<\/p>\n<p>Ek\u2019s \u2019n vryskut resep ontwikkelaar, kosstilis en fotograaf.
